Most replacements are sized by guessing. Ours aren’t.

The quickest way to quote a new furnace or heat pump is to read the old one’s label and order the same size. It is also how a lot of houses end up with a system that short-cycles, leaves rooms cold, and runs up the power bill. We run a Manual J load calculation on your actual house — square footage, insulation, windows and elevation — and size from that.

Elevation matters more here than most places. A heat pump in Prescott sees colder nights than one in Bullhead City, and a gas furnace above about 4,000 feet needs the manufacturer’s altitude derate to burn correctly. Those are the details that decide whether a new system actually keeps you warm.

If a repair is the better money, we will tell you, even when you called about replacement. We would rather have you for fifteen years than for one oversized invoice.

How we quote replacements

Signs it may be time

The system is past 15 years old. It needs a repair every winter. A technician found a cracked heat exchanger. The heat pump runs on strip heat all night. Some rooms never get warm. Any one of these is worth a replacement quote next to the repair, so you can decide with both numbers in front of you.

What we install

Gas & propane

Furnaces

High-efficiency gas and propane furnaces, set up for your elevation.

Single-stage, two-stage and variable-speed options in the three-tier quote, with the gas valve, orifices and venting checked against the manufacturer’s altitude requirements.

All-electric

Heat Pumps

Heating and cooling in one system — sized for winter load, not just summer.

An undersized heat pump falls back on electric strip heat in January. We size for the coldest nights you actually get, and set the thermostat and aux-heat staging so the backup only runs when it should.

Best of both

Dual Fuel

A heat pump for most of the winter, with a gas or propane furnace for the coldest nights.

Common and worth considering in Prescott Valley, Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt, where a lot of homes already have propane. We set the changeover point for your house and your fuel.

Common here

Package Units & Manufactured Homes

Gas-pack and heat-pump package units, and manufactured-home systems.

Rooftop and slab package units, and the downflow furnaces and belly ducts in manufactured homes — work a lot of contractors avoid.

No ducts

Ductless Mini-Splits

Heat for a garage, casita, addition or older home that never had ductwork.

Single- and multi-zone heat-pump mini-splits, with line sets routed so they don’t look like an afterthought.

New standard

A2L Refrigerant Systems

New split systems now use A2L refrigerants in place of R-410A.

Worth asking about before anyone sells you a system. Existing R-410A equipment can still be repaired; new installs are current-code A2L equipment, installed to the new standard.

How the estimate works

Replacement estimates are free. We look at the equipment, the ductwork and the house, run the load calculation, and give you three Trane options side by side — so the tradeoff between price, efficiency and comfort is visible before you choose. 0% APR financing is available on approved credit.

Not sure it needs replacing yet? Start with a heating repair visit and we will tell you honestly whether repair or replacement is the better money.

Since purchasing our home in 2020, Ryan has worked on our aging HVAC system. His knowledge and work ethic are excellent. He always provides an estimate for repairs needed prior to starting the job. My husband and I highly recommend Ryan and his company.

Questions we get asked

How much does a new furnace or heat pump cost?
It depends on the size the house needs, the type of system, the efficiency tier and what the ductwork needs. We do not quote over the phone off a square-footage guess. The estimate is free, and you get three Trane options priced side by side.
Should I get a furnace or a heat pump?
It depends on your fuel, your elevation and your bills. All-electric homes in the lower desert usually do well with a heat pump. Homes up the hill with gas or propane often do best with a furnace, or with dual fuel — a heat pump for most of the winter and the furnace for the coldest nights. We will show you the tradeoff for your house.
What is dual fuel?
A heat pump paired with a gas or propane furnace. The heat pump handles mild weather efficiently, and the furnace takes over when it gets cold enough that the furnace is cheaper to run. The changeover point is set for your house and your fuel.
What is A2L refrigerant, and do I need to worry about R-410A?
New split systems now use A2L refrigerants in place of R-410A. If your current R-410A system is working, it can still be serviced and repaired. If you are replacing, the new system will be current-code A2L equipment, and we install it to that standard.
How long does a replacement take?
A like-for-like swap is often done in a day. Changing system type, moving equipment or reworking ductwork can add time. You get the schedule with the estimate.
Do you offer financing?
Yes — 0% APR financing is available on approved credit. Ask about it when we give you the estimate.
