Chino Valley summers are mild by Arizona standards. Winters are not. That combination catches people out. A heat pump sized on a summer cooling load falls back on auxiliary electric strip heat on a cold January night, and the power bill that follows looks like a malfunction. It usually is not. It is a system doing the only thing it can with the capacity it has.
